HOLIDAY SPIRIT IS HERE!

Are you looking for some fun home exercise program activities to add to the mix this month? Or are you looking for holiday activities that kids and the whole family will love?

We have put together some therapist-approved holiday activities for everyone to enjoy!

BILATERAL COORDINATION SKILLS

Help wrap a present! There are so many great bilateral coordination skills involved with this fun task.

1.Using scissors

2.Folding the paper

3.Using the tape dispenser

4.Tying ribbons and bows

Here we have a video for adaptive wrapping

HAND and FINGER STRENGTHENING

Here, you will find a collection of fine motor resources and hand strengthening activities that can be used to improve muscle tone in the hands, increase stability in the thumb and fingers, develop and define arches of the hands, improve precision with in-hand manipulation, and improve endurance with hand strengthening activities.

VISUAL MEMORY SKILLS

Check and try these fun games to test your child’s visual memory! First, cut out the cards. Place all of the cards face down on the table. Flip one at a time and see if you can remember where the match is!

Click here for the matching game if that is too easy? Try this one!

SENSORY PROCESSING SKILLS

Have fun in the kitchen by making some fun tactile concoctions! You can get your hands dirty by making some holiday play dough.  Why not use real cookie dough or craft dough such as salt dough or homemade clay? Then you can eat or keep creations as ornaments that you can paint and decorate! The perfect gift for family and friends!

FIGURE GROUND SKILLS

It will be important to be able to find which holiday gifts are for you! Figure ground skills are the ability to focus on one specific piece of visual information in a busy background. Playing “I Spy” or “hide-and-go-seek” with familiar objects around the house can be a great way to get their brains prepped for visual discrimination of figure ground. They will use visual attention, visual tracking, and problem solving skills to win!

These are just some fun therapy activities that you can do during the holidays. To learn more therapist approved holiday activities and games you can click here ⬅️
