SOTH evacuates our DC office and follows emergency protocol due to bomb threat near library of congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Skills On The Hill staff received information regarding the threat at the capitol building on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 11:40 am. Our sensory summer groups were immediately evacuated from St. Mark’s Episcopal church located on 301 A St SE. Our Capitol Hill office was evacuated minutes later, and sessions were canceled through the afternoon. The process of evacuating was seamless, and staff showed incredible courage and organization in contacting parents to make sure all children were picked up and safely removed from the area.

It is our top priority to make sure that the children of SOTH are safe at all times. In the future, we will be implementing an emergency protocol for such situations, including bomb threats, intruder alerts, chemical threats, etc…Staff will be thoroughly trained in our emergency protocols and our processes for evacuations.

We appreciate the continued patronage of our facility and the support of the community during these times of uncertainty. For any questions or concerns please contact our front office staff at (202) 544-5439 for our DC location or (571) 527-0818 for our Colombia Pike location.
